The newer internet definition is different. To LARP means to perform a role, identity, belief, status, or lifestyle more than actually living it.

The word points at a gap between who someone says they are and what they actually do.

It is often about audience. The act is built to be seen, shared, and rewarded.

Receipts matter. The more someone claims, the more people ask what backs it up.
